Your journey begins upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport. You’ll be transferred to a quality hotel for your first night with Uganda Horizon Safaris. Relax and enjoy a detailed briefing that covers your trekking route, gear preparation, and key safety guidance from our experienced team. This restful evening sets the tone for your rewarding adventure ahead.
Early morning, you’ll board an Aerolink Uganda flight to Kasese (≈1h 10 min). Upon arrival, our team drives you to Kilembe trailhead to start your trek through rainforest alive with primates and birds. By evening, you’ll reach Sine Camp (2,596 m), where the team sets up camp, and you share your first cooked mountain meal under starlit skies.
Today’s ascent guides you from rainforest into bamboo and giant heather zones. The landscape opens dramatically, revealing moorland vistas and mountain ridges. Trek steadily to Mutinda Camp (3,975 m), enjoying the shifting flora, crisp mountain air, and growing anticipation. Arrive mid-afternoon to rest, acclimatize, and savor the beauty of this remote alpine environment.
Use this day to acclimatize with a rewarding hike to Mutinda Lookout (approx. 3,925 m). From this vantage point, enjoy panoramic views of peaks and valleys, while capturing dramatic landscapes. Return to Mutinda Camp to relax, recharge, and prepare for the high-altitude climb ahead—building strength, confidence, and memories in the calm alpine air.
A pre-dawn start leads you up to Weismann’s Peak (4,620 m), where sweeping Rwenzori panoramas greet you. Celebrate your summit with fellow trekkers before descending to Kiharo Camp (3,460 m). Along the way, appreciate varied flora and rugged terrain. Evening at camp offers storytelling, reflection, and rest in this serene, high-altitude setting.
The descent through mixed forest and valley terrain leads you back to Kilembe trailhead. From there, transfer to a comfortable lodge in Kasese. Celebrate your achievement with Uganda Horizon Safaris staff over a hot meal, recounting your journey through waterfalls, forests, and peaks, as you enjoy your final night in the foothills of the Rwenzoris.
After breakfast, head to Kasese Airstrip for the return Aerolink flight to Entebbe (≈1h 10 min). Once back, you’ll be transferred to the airport or your hotel, concluding your journey with lasting memories and new friends from the trek.
