Perfect for nature lovers and photographers, this 6 day route explores the alpine lakes and moorlands of the Kilembe Trail in leisure. With time for side hikes, lake visits, and high-altitude landscapes, this immersive hiking experience brings adventurers close to Rwenzori’s wild heart.
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a welcome briefing from Uganda Horizon Safaris to go over equipment, safety, and expedition details. Overnight in Entebbe with time to rest and prepare for your mountain adventure.
Morning Aerolink Uganda flight to Kasese Airstrip (~1 hr). Transfer to Kilembe trailhead and begin the trek ascending through rainforest, crossing streams and bird-rich habitat. Arrive at Sine Camp (2,596 m) in the afternoon for camp setup and debrief.
Trek through bamboo forests into afro-alpine moorlands, passing giant heather and stunning vistas. Arrive at Mutinda Camp (3,975 m) with time to enjoy panoramic mountain views, review the next stage, and settle into camp.
Gentle nature walk to Mutinda Lookout or nearby moorland viewing spots. Observe flora, birdlife, and soak in fresh alpine air. Return to camp for briefing and summit prep.
Ascend to Weismann’s Peak; return to Mutinda or Kiharo Camp, celebrating with your team amidst serene mountain landscapes.
Trek back to Kilembe, transfer to Kasese, fly to Entebbe, and overnight or onward departure.
A gentle trek takes us down through the rain forest to Mweka Gate, where we complete park formalities and receive certificates, which you can hang up with pride! We are then met by our vehicles and return to the hotel in Moshi, where you can treat yourself to a welcome hot shower.

The day is left free to wind down after the trek before your flight home. Depending on flight times you could go and explore Moshi town and grab some souvenirs before heading to the airport.
