Start Point: Your lodge or guesthouse in Sipi Village
Hike Duration: 4–5 hours (moderate difficulty)
Total Distance: Approx. 7–10 km round-trip
Start Time: 9:00 AM (flexible on request)
After breakfast, your local guide from Uganda Horizon Safaris will meet you at your accommodation in Sipi Village. You’ll receive a short briefing and set off on foot toward the first of the three waterfalls. The route begins through rolling hills and cultivated farmland where banana, maize, and coffee grow alongside the trail. You’ll enjoy wide views over the Karamoja plains and fresh air from the Elgon slopes.
The first waterfall drops about 85 meters and is the most iconic of the three, with opportunities for great photo angles and a chance to cool off in the spray. From here, continue to the second waterfall—smaller but set in a lush canyon, accessible through a small cave beneath the rocks. This is a popular spot to take a break and enjoy the peaceful sounds of birds and rushing water.
Your guide will explain the local legends of Sipi, and share insight into the Sabiny tribe’s traditions, daily life, and farming practices.
The trail winds uphill to the final and highest waterfall at 100 meters. Here you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views over the Rift Valley and a dramatic drop where the falls thunder into the gorge below. Enjoy your packed lunch or picnic at the summit viewpoint, with time to rest, take photos, or meditate in nature.
Descend via a different trail that loops through small villages and scenic gardens. If time and interest allow, you can visit a local coffee farm for a short tour and demonstration of traditional Arabica coffee processing—from bean to cup.
Optional: Abseiling experience (at an additional cost) is available near the main waterfall for adventurous hikers seeking a unique thrill.
Arrive back at your accommodation in Sipi Village with time to relax, reflect, or enjoy a cup of fresh coffee as you take in your surroundings.
